Job Title: Project Manager - ( Civil Engineering/Infrastructure ) Job Type: Permanent Salary: £35k-£40k Location: Burnley We have an opportunity for a highly accomplished Project Manager with a strong civil engineering/infrastructure background. The position holds accountability to ensure the technical delivery on all projects are on time and within budget. This is a great opportunity to play a key delivery role on projects across the business. Our client is a UK based telecoms business that recognised early that traditional methods of delivering internet connectivity to customers would be unable to keep pace with the ever-accelerating demands as technology advanced. Traditional methods of internet delivery still rely on cables and telephone wiring that, in many cases, is many decades old and which was designed for telephone communication alone. Consumer and Business demand for broadband services continues to grow exponentially and they are here to roll out their extraordinary AIR FIBRE product nationwide. This role is to project manage the rollout of the network infrastructure which includes telecoms mast being built and erected in cities, towns and villages nationwide. As a project manager you will work closely with the planning officer in securing that all sites have been signed off and passed planning regulations. Our client has a 6 year plan to complete the roll the out of the first two phases nationwide. Key Duties / Responsibilities · Liaise with internal planning officer to support the planning approval and control the schedule. · Take responsibility of the complete building process. · Recruit/find 3 rd party contractors, so will need an understanding of what's needed to erect a mast. · Manage 3rd party contractors to ensure projects are delivered to cost and timeframes, whilst promoting effective teamwork among project team members. · Manage change appropriately within projects to reduce impacts on time and costs. · Build and maintain effective relationships with a defined set of key stakeholders with a cross-business footprint, based on trust, effective management and timely delivery. · Drive project teams to be more efficient and deliver projects quicker than the anticipated. · Act as the key interface between all relevant business divisions and other key stakeholders. · Lead or participate in contract negotiations · Assess and manage risks, including health and safety issues. This is key and needs to be when establishing contract appointment. Who's responsible for what? · Develop and execute ongoing communications at all levels of the business to ensure expectations are being met · Ensure appropriate communication and escalation of project-related matters with Senior Management. · Ensure all projects are fully compliant and quality procedures, project documentation is comprehensive and up to date · Think of what will go wrong and look to have a backup plan/contractors i.e bad weather cannot lay foundations. Etc · May be based in town for rollout · Will have to go and inspect to check works · Northwest is Phase 1 ( if done well, we may recruit another for other parts of the country) who may report to them The ideal candidate will have knowledge and experience to manage all 3 rd Party contractors to facilitate the following project lifecycle below:- · Digging the hole.- (excavating the land - in preparation for laying concrete foundations) · Pouring the concrete.- (Laying concrete foundations) · Erecting the mast. · Connecting the power. Experience/Skills Required · Experience in working in Civil Engineering/ Infrastructure. Having a background with a good knowledge of all steps necessary in the planning process. · A good working knowledge of planning, building practices and regulations; · 3 rd Party Contractor Management · Must work well under pressure, good customer facing skills, good communicator; · Substantial Project Management experience; · Computer literate - skilled in use of Excel spreadsheets and Microsoft Project; · Experience in telecoms mast erection - is advantageous If you have a desire to work in an ambitious company and are able to deliver operational excellence then this role is made for you.
