WSP is looking for a principal consultant to join its industry-leading Intelligent Transport Services team. We provide consultancy and engineering services to transport clients throughout the UK and overseas. We have recently secured a number of exciting new projects and are now looking to grow our team by recruiting a number of consultants including a principal consultant with consultancy experience in a transportation, engineering, operations, safety or risk management environment. Part time and full time roles are available and flexible working arrangements will be considered. Working within the Operations and Safety Group, our consultants work with clients to develop solutions to transport issues. We work across all aspects of projects providing expertise in areas including safety risk assessment, project appraisal, business cases, transport operations, customer impact, feasibility studies, traffic and safety analysis and stakeholder management. Our current projects include several smart motorways schemes, trials of connected and autonomous vehicles and management of Highways Englands National Roadside Telecommunications Services. A typical week may include: Scoping issues and developing methodologies for addressing them Strategy development and planning Researching and gathering evidence Carrying out qualitative and quantitative data analysis Identifying scheme risks and mitigations Writing detailed reports Working with clients and stakeholders Supporting and developing other staff We are seeking individuals with a proven track record that can be applied within our Intelligent Transport Services business. Vital skills include excellent communications (written and verbal), sound analytical skills and the ability to build strong relationships. Experience of the transport, engineering or health and safety sectors is desirable and we are particularly keen to hear from people with a background in highway operations and safety. Wed love to hear from you if you have: A degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline (e.g. engineering, transport studies, geography, psychology, liberal arts) or are a technician with BTEC, HNC/HND and an appropriate level of experience A proven track record in a consultancy role or can demonstrate the aptitude and skills required to provide excellent consultancy support Experience in highway operations and operational safety risk assessment Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to undertake qualitative and quantitative data analysis A conscientious approach with strong attention to detail A confident, outgoing personality and the ability to work under your own initiative A desire to work collaboratively with clients, suppliers and colleagues, building strong relationships built on integrity and delivery The ability to work on several tasks simultaneously, prioritise your workload and work flexibly Demonstrable experience of leading teams and developing others A willingness to learn about our business, including undertaking training The Intelligent Transport Services team consists of over 200 individuals working across the UK.
