Junior Technical Author This is an excellent opportunity to join the documentation team of a creative, award-winning software company. Previous experience as a technical author is not essential, but the ability and enthusiasm to documenttechnical subjects are. As part of this exciting role, you will create and maintain a range of technical documentation for end users, system administrators and developers. You will gather information about new product features from product owners and developers, and also use Docs-as-Code toolchains such as AsciiDoc (Asciidoctor), Git, Jekyll, Jenkins, and Artifactory. Applications are welcome from technical authors or those with a technical background (eg developer, software tester) who are looking for their first technical writing role. As the successful candidate, you will have: At least one year's experience working as a technical author or working in a role where technical writing was one of your responsibilities. Experience of writing for software developer audiences. The ability to communicate complex technical ideas simply, clearly, and concisely. A strong academic background, ideally with a science, engineering or computer related degree. You are literate in oneof the following programming languages: Java, JavaScript, C, or Python. A desire to work with, a Docs-as-Code toolchain (primary tools: a code editor, Asciidoctor, and Git). The ability and enthusiasm to learn new cutting-edge technology. Strong investigative and analytical skills, with an attention to detail. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Our fast-moving, fast-growing technology client is looking for a Senior API and Technical Content Writer for their London office. Some remote working is also possible each week. If you have a background in supporting developers/developer relations/developer advocacy, an affinity for technical writing, lots of creative ideas to help take developer and other technical documentation to the next level, and thrive on trying things you've never done before, then this is the role for you! You'll be writing a range of developer documentation (API and SDK documentation, engaging technical blog posts, tutorials (incl. videos), developer guides, demos, developer cookbooks, quick start guides, and interactive learning materials); writing and testing code samples in various programming languages; contributing your ideas on how to do things better; and getting involved with product design and the development process. Based in our client's London office, there is also the opportunity to work remotely each week. On offer is a basic salary circa £60-65K p.a. Technical Author Our global engineering client is looking for a technical author to join their small and supportive team. You will be required to plan, research and develop documentation to support their range of manufacturing solutions. Documentation will include installation, user, and maintenance guides, illustrated parts catalogues, technical bulletins and product data sheets. As the successful candidate, you will have: At least three years' technical authoring experience ideally in an engineering, manufacturing, or automotive environment. A good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications. Experience with Adobe InDesign, and ideally Photoshop, Illustrator and Acrobat. Experience of accurately interpreting mechanical and electrical drawings. Any experience with 2D and 3D CAD systems would be advantageous.
