The purpose of the role is to maintain HET’s and other military wheeled vehicles both as a civilian and as a Sponsored Reservist maintaining them to a high level of professionalism and adhere to company and military policies and procedures. Whilst most Heavy Equipment Mechanics tasks will take place at the squadron workshop to which the individual is affiliated to, all Heavy Equipment Mechanics must be prepared to work short term at other squadron workshops if there is an operational need. The purpose of the role is to maintain HET’s and other military wheeled vehicles both as a civilian and as a Sponsored Reservist maintaining them to a high level of professionalism and adhere to company and military policies and procedures. An integral part of the role is to be a Sponsored Reservist. Whilst most Heavy Equipment Mechanics tasks will take place at the squadron workshop to which the individual is affiliated to, all Heavy Equipment Mechanics must be prepared to work short term at other squadron workshops if there is an operational need. The role will predominantly be based in the UK, but you may have to deploy to anywhere in the world. All applicants will have to undergo a comprehensive medical and fitness / strength tests. Therefore, interested applicants should be of good health and physically fit. Key Features of the Role: Maintain the HET’s and other military wheeled vehicles and to undertake roadside repair and recovery. Carry out scheduled and unscheduled Mechanical and / or Electrical maintenance of HET’s and carry out roadside repair and recovery of HET’s anywhere in Europe. Carry out scheduled and unscheduled Mechanical and / or Electrical maintenance of other military wheeled vehicles and perform workshop tasks within manufacturer’s productivity levels. You may be required to work outdoors. Work within the requirements of the quality plan and follow approved procedures and will participate in total quality and continuous improvement programmes. Attend compulsory training for a minimum of 35 days per annum, including weekend and unsocial hours. Knowledge and Skills Required: Must hold a British passport, eligible to join the British Army as a Sponsored Reservist and uphold their commitments. Be a highly professional HGV Mechanic with a strong sense of company and team loyalty. Ideally you should have a BTEC, City and Guilds Level 3 qualification and you should be qualified C+E (HGV 1), additional training may be provided if you only have a C (HGV3) licence. Experience of maintaining articulated vehicles and have not more than 6 penalty points on your licence. Training will be provided (6 weeks). ADR licence is desirable but not essential. What’s on Offer: This is a salaried position with an annual basic salary of £32,540 per annum for an average working week of 48 hours averaged over a 17 week reference period. In addition, there is a Sponsored Reservist bounty payable and uplifts and allowances depending upon deployment to theatre. This duel role attracts an annual basic salary of £32,540 pa plus the same Sponsored Reservist bounty and uplifts and allowances.
