This is a busy, varied role working within a legal professional services environment. As the team's Administration Assistant you will be responsible for a variety of tasks including collection and distribution of the post, file opening and closures, general filing and archiving as well other administration tasks as requested. You must be able to work quickly and accurately and work well within a team environment. As you will be required to cover for your colleagues on occasion, you will have excellent interpersonal skills and be able to communicate well in person, in writing and over the phone. You must be computer literate with a working knowledge of Microsoft office suite, particularly Word, Excel and Outlook. This role could suit candidates for an administration background or an ambitious school or college leaver with strong GCSEs and A levels wanting to develop a career in administration. Normal working hours will be Monday - Friday, 9am-5pm, however you will need to be flexible in working outside these hours as the team and business requires. They also employ a number of highly specialised Costs Lawyers who can offer a deep understanding of the most complex cases. You will deal with solicitors' files across a range of disciplines and prepare costs claims for submission to opposing solicitors or the courts. You may be required to undertake negotiations and possibly have some involvement with advocacy. Applicants should be committed and hardworking individuals who enjoy operating in a pressurised and highly motivated team environment. You will be able to demonstrate the ability to work on your own initiative with the minimum of supervision. You will have a flexible approach making you able to respond to rapid changes in working schedules and priorities. For this you will need to be organised and able to communicate clearly with people at all levels. Ideally you will be educated to degree standard and will have a minimum of 1 years plus experience working either in house or for an external supplier of costs drafting services. Candidates may be required to undertake additional training and encouraged to study for professional Law Costs qualifications if they do not already have them. The role involves the use of IT systems and therefore computer literacy is essential. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programmes would be advantageous.
