Back-End Developer Henley-In-Arden Permanent £30,000-£40,000 (Kotlin, Java, Microservices) My Henley-In-Arden based client is a growth stage startup providing a unique combination of logical and creative marketing solutions for a number of global high street retailers. A key area of growth for the business over the coming years will be the development of in-house software offerings - allowing clients to make more effective use of their marketing resources. My client is uniquely positioned having a team possessing several decades of first-hand experience of the wants, needs and frustrations of marketeers and a reputation for delivering quality. Where does the role fit in? This role will play a major part in delivering my clients software services offering, based out of Wootton Wawen and attending offsite meetings with clients or suppliers as required. You will need to be a highly motivated, proactive individual with the ability to solve problems independently and as part of a team. Your goal will be to build efficient solutions that serve user needs. You will be comfortable writing software as an independent individual who is part of a larger team - i.e. you can work independently to support the team and business. Required Skills/Experience You have two or more years' experience developing backend API services to support single page applications You have strong communication skills, the ability to work in a team and to manage your own workload You possess an eye for detail along with resourcefulness and troubleshooting aptitude You are customer obsessed. You will be able to self-start and are comfortable in dynamic, changing environments A willingness to continue to further your knowledge and skills and an awareness of current issues affecting the industry and its technologies BONUS: Experience in print and/or retail marketingTechnologies Kotlin, Java, SQL, NoSQL, Docker, Microservices, Git, REST, JSON (BONUS: Modern Angular, Typescript, JavaScript, S(C/A)SS, CSS, HTML5) What are the responsibilities? The design and implementation of software which adheres to industry best practices Following, and helping to improve development process Conducting code reviews for your peers Suggesting improvements or alternative approaches to solving problems Fixing bugs and adding features to existing solutions/systems Creating "just enough" documentation to enable other developers to understand the software you have built and the reasons for decisions you've made Working with clients to understand their problems and suggesting suitable solutions Supporting existing clients and maintaining existing solutions/systems Assisting and supporting other members of the team in their work Proactively managing your time Maintaining an awareness of new and existing technologies which may be relevant to the work we do Learning new programming languages, frameworks and other supporting technologies as required
