Job Description

The Company and the Role:
The Company is a multi-award winning, family owned gastro pub chain operating 8 sites in the South East. They are currently seeking a talented Pastry Chef for their gastro public house located near Shipbourne in Kent. The position is permanent.
The Company is looking for a talented Pastry Chef with the flair, ambition and passion to create and execute great dishes. Who is ready to continue developing their career in an award-winning fresh food venue.
The Company will expect you to work alongside the Head Chef and brigade as a key team player.
Established in 2003 the Company is offering a salary up to £19K plus tips and benefits including a pension scheme, staff loyalty scheme after 3 months, Uniform / Chefs Whites and Childcare Vouchers.

Key Features of the Role:
All desserts and bread making is prepared in house using fresh ingredients and local suppliers wherever possible.
You will be expected to create, develop and set the highest standards of food quality and consistency.
You will be a great team player with good organisational skills and the ability to thrive in a very busy environment, to an award winning gastro pub standard.
As Pastry Chef you will assist the Head Chef in all aspects of the kitchen. Including training, gross profit margin, stock control and hygiene etc.
You will be expected to enhance the Company`s reputation for consistently preparing, cooking and presenting dishes, to the right quality, that is second to none.

Knowledge and Skills:
You should be an accomplished Pastry Chef or have worked with baked produce and desserts in either a restaurant, gastro pub, catering site or retail outlet. Preparing and making pastry items from scratch.
Ideally with experience of working in a fresh food kitchen at a similar level, or perhaps you as looking to move up to the next level.
Your practical experience should ideally be supported by some form of catering qualification.
Alternatively, the Company is supportive to the ex-military community. They welcome applications from Chefs at all levels who are either about to leave the Armed Forces or who have trained and served as a Chef in the Armed Forces.
Previous experience in a similar role requiring a broad food knowledge and precise attention to detail is essential.
You must have experience and a desire to work with fresh and quality ingredients and possess ambition to continually improve yourself the business.

What’s on Offer:
Basic salary will be in the region of £16K - £19K per annum plus tips which will be worth around £80 per week. Other benefits include a pension scheme, staff loyalty Scheme after 3 months, Uniform / Chefs Whites and Childcare Vouchers.
Standard working week is 45 hours working 5 shifts a week.
