Job Description

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a proven Children`s Home Residential Manager with excellent leadership skills.

This opportunity is working for a fantastic company who truly value their children in care as well as their staff. The new home in Deal is 3 bedded, although it hasn’t been registered yet.

The aim’s of the home are to provide a safe haven in which children and young people can learn appropriate life skills and behaviour, which will help them to live fulfilling lives beyond their time and experience in care

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • To start on the registration of the home and to assist with the setting up of the home
  • Provide and promote an environment and leadership culture that positively integrates race, gender, disability and sexual orientation and meets individual needs
  • Ensure that young people are involved as fully as possible in decisions affecting them and the running of the home
  • Monitor that a written individual care plan for each child or young person is implemented
  • To represent the company at Joint Professional Meetings
  • Ensure that all relevant workplace legislation are adhered to
  • Be accountable for the monitoring and oversight of all financial activity
  • Ensure appropriate numbers of staff are in post to satisfactorily meet the needs of shift rotas
  • Interview and appoint or dismiss staff
  • Regularly review staff performance
  • Keep the developmental needs of staff under review
  • Organise and provide a staff training programme

Minimum requirements:

  • Hold a recognised social work or professional management qualification relevant to working with children at least to level 4 (Dip SW or NVQ level 5)
  • Minimum of 3 years management and supervisory experience gained in a residential setting
  • At least two years’ experience of working with children within the past five years
  • Expected to work 1 on call weekend a month and some on calls during the week

£32,000 - £35,000 dependant on experience
