NOC Engineer -based in central Cardiff - excellent salary, package and work environment Were on the lookout for a talented NOC Engineer who never says no to a challenge for an industry leading R&D organisation based in central Cardiff. As a NOC Engineer you will be working you will be responsible for supporting the technology platform that powers all our client's products and services. You will be part of a 24x7 on-call coverage schedule including weekends, early mornings and evening coverage. Main responsibilities in this role will be varied however will include: Support external/internal customers by monitoring core network/service equipment for outages and performance issues. Responds to telephone calls, emails and tickets within the established response guidelines. Monitors NOC work queues. Work within a ticketing system Use and maintain tools (knowledge base, FAQs, etc.) to resolve customer problems effectively. Diagnose and configure equipment and address configuration on hardware, network and software issues. Resolve issues to meet SLA requirements and escalate if necessary. Communicate changes, outages to appropriate contacts and customers. Produce and update documentation to process, drawings and monitoring system. Accepts escalated customer issues that may come from other NOC technicians. Complete Root Cause Analysis (RCA) Work with team to automate task Work with team to maintain standard operating procedures (SOP) Maintains ownership of issues and follows through on all customer issues until those issues are resolved Agile pioneers, Big thinkers, Industry definers. Ideally the successful NOC Engineer will have the following: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and solve practical problems in a timely manner. Good written and oral skills; able to document calls and activities accurately and effectively. Ability to work in a team and communicate effectively. ITIL Intermediate Certification Be highly confident in a Network Operations Center monitoring mission critical applications and services. Previous experience of supporting network infrastructure and troubleshooting (Firewalls, DHCP, DNS, NTP, SSL, VPN, etc.). Strong understanding of monitoring and logging tools. Experience with Central Management Software such as Salt. 1 - 2 years of experience with Linux Operating Systems (Ubuntu, RedHat). 1 - 2 years of experience with troubleshooting server hardware (Blade and Rack Servers).
